How might the event have contributed to the growth of the trade unions and the Industrial Revolution?
Trade unions were formed during the Industrial Revolution, to increase the rights of workers and to decrease child labour.
Laws and regulations such as giving workers the right to speak, have time off, increase wage and retire were set in place and large penalties would occur if business owners weren't to abide by them. The matchgirls' strike impacted on the growth of the trade and labour unions since the government couldn't risk more strikes like this or poor work conditions to remain.
